Gilgandra is home to the Coo-ee Festival held in October each year. Gilgandra was the starting point of the famous World War 1 recruitment drive - the Coo-ee March and there are many memorials to remember those who were courageous and fought selflessly in the war.
Gilgandra Caravan Park is an ideal base for exploring the local township as well as the regional areas surrounding. Further afield is the famous Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo and the Narromine Aviation Museum.
Gilgandra Shire is the southern gateway to the spectacular Warrumbungle National Park, home of the Siding Spring Observatory which boasts one of the largest optical telescopes in the southern hemisphere.
